What kind of commitment is involved, and what are typical seasons and schedules?

The commitment begins after tryouts in September, when teams are formed. Coaches then meet with their teams to plan winter practices and possible games for the winter and spring seasons. During winter, indoor practices and games take place at venues like Epic Sports Center, Sahlen’s Sports Park, Sportsplex, and other facilities across Western New York. The schedules and locations for these indoor sessions are decided by Grand Island Soccer Club travel coaches in consultation with their teams.

In April, weather permitting, outdoor practices start to prepare for official outdoor league games beginning in early May. These spring practices usually occur at locations such as Charlotte Sidway School or Veterans Park on Grand Island. League matches run until the first week of August, typically scheduled once weekly on weekdays.

Beyond regular league play, travel teams frequently participate in various summer weekend tournaments across Western New York. These tournaments are organized collaboratively by teams, coaches, players, and parents to provide additional competitive opportunities throughout the season.
